Don't forget the passports!

There had been a lot of anticipation about the IOW game, with people taking time off work... and also having nightmares! With the expected arrival of Storm Freya, a large quantity of sea sickness tablets had been consumed.
The day started well, with Donna missing the Gosport ferry and stressing the rest of the team out! However, it all worked out, and with a shaking Ashton, who HATES boats, we made it onto the fast cat. A quick trip up top for some photos, a bum shuffle down the steps (for Ashton), and we were off!
22 minutes later, we landed.
After a blustery stroll down the pier, and a dash to the sweet shop, we met up with the lovely ladies from the island. Emily tried to bag a car all to herself... not happening! With everyone squeezed in they realized... they didn't have enough space! With Pete taking one for the team and choosing to hike up the high street, we set off.
Another short trip later, finished off by potholes as deep as the grand canyon, we arrived at the pitch. A quick drop off and turn around, and then we were all reunited once more. With bare 11, a gentle warm up began, before we started the game with our pushback, unfortunately into both the sun and the wind.
And so began the battle. Everyone put in 110% effort. Emily making some spectacular saves, Kerri and Alyssa at centre back making some epic picks and tackles, Donna having an incredible game in right back, and Jo on the other side driving up from left back, into midfield, and carrying and working the ball with Christina and Georgia to penetrate our D a number of times. Rachel at the top of the W working the midfield and defence, Abby running her heart out on right wing, Beth (when she had some food in her), running around in the middle, channeling the play out to the wings, and Ashton up front calling all the passes she could see! Unfortunately, as ever, the scoreline didn't reflect the play, as the game finished 9-0 to IOW. However, an email later from their captain said that our play did not reflect our position in the league.
After teas of sausage chips and beans, it was a trip into town for a well deserved drink or two!
Thankyou to those that stepped up, to Ray for umpiring, and to Pete for coming over to watch.
