A cracking day

A cracking day. The sun was shining on us this weekend and brought all the way from Australia by one of our returning old faces Lou B. Before the game began, we had a few fragile players, so the warm-up wasn't as intense as usual. The game started and we started well passing some long balls from Megs left to Georgia who once again with her nibble stick move took on some of their players. Fleet and Ewshot got the ball back with Titch in the middle she was our girl to watch. Fleet got a short which Emily and her legendary defence saved, they came back at us with some good movement, but this time it went in. Donna in the centre made some speedy runs to intercept the ball before passing to Izzy, we were getting the ball into their half. Fleet and Ewshot came back, but with a hit out from a 16, Kerri got Lou (Loopy) off on a run down the left with Jo making an excellent run, progress was being made. With Rachel battling against titch this was proving to be a great game. Fleet and Ewshot broke again and much to Emily’s surprise the ball went in through her legs (she blames the sun AGAIN). With five minutes left Fleet and Ewshot got another short which we saved, Charlie passed to Megs, who made an impressive run down the left before standing on the ball with a shout of “Ouch” Megs fell to the floor. With 10 seconds left and 2-0, the umpire called it while Megs was being carried off.
With a bit of jiggling about, we started the second half and Fleet, and Ewshot began well attacking us straight away. Rachel in her new position made some great stops, getting the ball out to Gemma L, on the right who passed to Georgia and then to Lou from Oz, who paired up well. The ball was spun into Lou (Loopy) who made a dashing run into the D and with a swipe of the ball missed. Fleet and Ewshot came back at us and gained another short, Emily made a fantastic save and Kerri made it safe and got it away. We stayed strong and passed the ball well all day; unfortunately, fleet got another goal. During another short corner, Charlie asked the umpire how long was left; his response was “fifteen minutes” a loud groan was heard. As Fleet and Ewshot shaped up for another attack Charlie started feeling faint, Rachel grabbed her and play was stopped. A yell of “water” from titch and Kerri sprinted onto the pitch so fast the opposition commented, to be fair all we saw was boobage everywhere. The game finished 0-3 to Fleet and Ewshot, but what a great game by everyone. Fleet and Ewshot have been the friendliest bunch of ladies we have played this season.
