Great win - good effort - Fantastic game

All

Lovely game in the sunshine. Good turnout from visitors as well and thank you to all parents attending and su[pporting their children.

We started at 10.00am observing 1 minute silence for Remembrance Day. We should never forget.

Unfortunately our girls were still observing while the game had started so within the first 20 minutes we were 0-1 down. We did play well but again (as against Salisbury) we panicked a little bit on the ball. Too many sloppy passes which got intercepted. But that can happen.

After a dose of oranges the girls looked much brighter in the second 20 minutes. Gosport much stronger and whereas I was hoping for a penalty corner, after umpire deliberation Gosport was awarded a penalty flick. Eve scored but actually hit the ball but you should not look a gifted horse in the mouth (but we will have to practice penalty flicks now) - so 1-1 after 40 minutes.

After an amazing pep talk by Mr Darren Humphreys the girls were all eager to go for the win. And that is just what they did. With Lotte and Mya playing much higher - Eve and Isobel had even more space to run into. And that led to 4 more goals (Eve x 2 - Mya x 3). But the legs were gone - if a coach ever needed convincing that his team gave everything in a game - today was a prime example. Last 5 minutes I think 7 Southampton players attacked vs Maja and both Lara's (rest just did not have the legs) but the three musketeers in defense did not let another goal in (and neither did Sophie in goals). Also Eva did extremely well - for someone who claims not to like running - she ran the most I have seen her do in a game and in training (and it showed -she intercepted a lot of balls). Lucy and Olivia bossed midfield and Nixie was our magical substitute - helping out whenever someone was tired or injured.

Each goal was celebrated together as a team - they worked as a team - they smiled as a a team. THEY ENJOYED THEIR HOCKEY!

Happy dad, proud coach!

Next week 17th is a friendly against Havant 10am push back - week after 24th is league game against Havant (2.45)pm. Can you please update Pitchero so I know whom I have available. Last 2019 (home) game is against Trojans on December 8th
