U14/U12 and W1XI

As promised, Sunday 4 Feb saw 4 teams in action - The BU12 Pirates, BU12 Corsairs, BU14 PortsPort and the W1XI in a rescheduled match.

The Boys U12 (with a powerful girl contingent) travelled to Haslemere for their early games against each other which resulted in 7-1 win (Tomas scoring 4) to the Pirates with the Corsairs swopping jumpers for bibs at half time because they were overheating through tremendous efforts chasing the Pirates. Ryan (the Pirates goalie), saved several fantastic attempts on goal so the score could so have been closer. The Corsairs then went on to play an always-strong Portsmouth team with a goal from Ashton who should be very proud of his strength in both games, sadly a 8-1 loss. The Pirates then had their must win or draw match with Havant. Going down 1-0 gave them the spur to come back in the second half and bring it back to a 3-1 win, provisionally winning the league. Both teams should be super proud of where they've got to this season and we look forward to celebrating their successes.

Finley and Flynn joined forces with Portsmouth in the PortsPort Tier 3 BU14 match against Haslemere and showed their strengths again ending in a nail biting 2-2 draw. Well done to you both.

Now the W1XI expecting a challenging game and wanting a win after yesterday's result to edge closer to the top of their league, took on Portsmouth Pumas. Pumas known to be young, fit with attitude. So they took their equally young ladies with a fighting attitude and ladies with experience to ensure a 3 point win. Entering this timeline into GMS was epic with 9 goals to 0! Super proud of you ladies - you too have come a long way since Sept 23.

So all in all a successful weekend of super hockey by players with attitude, fabulous coaching, efficient managers, skilled umpires with patience, parents with passion and a hockey family ethos.
