Sunday dawned bright for our U12's last matches of the season, they have had a great league season winning all but 2 of their league matches so yesterday was a day of fun and no pressure.
The Club invited teams from Havant, Fareham and Hamble to St Vincent College for a mini tournament of friendlies. First up was a close match with a 2-2 draw with Fareham, that the Pirates made relatively heavy weather of, maybe due to the start of British Summer Time and losing an hour of sleep. To be honest, think that's the coach's excuse when he arrived late and needed a wake up call from Coach Stu.
Next up the Pirates played Hamble and mixed it up with some Grenades (the U12 girls) for some early game time before their match with Hamble a few games later. The Grenades added the spark and won the game 2-1. Lastly, a strong Havant side who tested the Pirates in the first half giving their back line of defence (made up of Joel, Jake, Will and Ollie) a couple of challenges and Keeper Ryan who pulled out the trump card and saved some super shots. After some half time team talk and encouragement the Pirates went again and between Ollie and Daniel found their Pirate skill and spirit and boom were in the game with a hat-trick from Daniel. Will M had clearly been paying attention to his sister's moves and ran the baseline, weaved into the D and found the goal (something similar to training only better) winning the game 5-2. A fantastic way to end a superb season.
Thank you to all the Clubs who came along and glad Gosport could host after the season was cut short last minute, albeit Coach Zoe (from Hamble) complained of getting sunburnt! Sorry Zoe, who'd have thought it from Costa del Gosport.
