16 players from GBHC traveled to Portsmouth and Southsea to rekindle the rivalry of summer. With the heat of the day still hanging around, it was decided that 4 x 20 minute quarters would be played, much to the relief of the players. However, with many subs we thought we would fare well against initial bare 11 opposition.
The first quarter started well, with Gosport slipping home a goal withing a few minutes, despite already being a player down through injury. We felt like this was going to be a repeat of last year. However, P+S pulled back, and with a few last minutes players turning up, they were soon countering our attack with many of their own. The "speedy one" was given to brand new player Izzie, who bravely made her debut and held her own.
As the game progressed, the term "friendly" seemed to disappear, as a number of the P+S men were taking it rather seriously, much to the frustration of our own players. However, as the final whistle went, hands were shaken and all was forgotten, as the end score was 3-3.
Thankyou to all those that turned out for what was a very enjoyable game, and perfect weather for it. Thankyou also to Ketch for umpiring a long game by himself!
